What to Expect

I truly believe in meeting each client exactly where they are in the process…

… and helping you create your own individualized action plan around realistic and attainable goals.

In sessions, we may cover a variety of goals such as identifying dysfunctional patterns and developing new, healthier ones.

We will work on improving communication skills with peers, partners, family; learn effective and personalized coping skills and outlets; and help you reconnect with your true and authentic self.

In our work, I will utilize and incorporate the concepts of self-awareness and self-acceptance as key agents of change which will work as our catalyst for motivation and progress toward these goals.

We will take it one step at a time and adjust our goals and session structure as needed to best meet your needs.

The First Session

The first session offers extra time for initial assessment and connection on your goals and expectations for your therapy experience.

The most important component to successful outcomes and positive experiences in therapy (even more important that the actual techniques/skills) is having a strong foundation of trust and connection with your therapist.

The best way to establish this strong foundation is to have 3-4 consistent sessions (1x weekly) to assess your present struggles, develop your goals and individualized action planning.

This allows us to create a safe space of trust and rapport within the client-therapist relationship which will maximize the benefits of our continued work.

If you are the parent of a teen or young adult, our first few sessions will be structured with a combination of family, individual, and parent support in order to assess a complete picture of our goals and action steps for both the individual and the family system.

The Magic Wand

Disclaimer: Although we hear this all the time, there is no such thing as a magic wand or a special toolbox when working in the therapeutic process.

I may be the “master of therapy” (I mean, I do have my master’s degree in therapy), but the real MVP on this team is YOU!

If you show up, are consistent in and out of sessions (yes therapy continues outside of the office), and put in your max effort, you will no doubt succeed and reach your goals.

If you get stuck or lose sight of the goal, I’ll be there with you the whole way, to help you recover and get back on track and to celebrate your triumphs – big and small.

I look forward to working with you!
